THE WEATHER

The weather is the state of the atmosphere at a particular place and time.


The main features of weather are air temperature, wind and precipitation.

TEMPERATURE

When it is hot, the temperature is high. 

When it is cold, the temperature is low.

Temperature changes daily and with the seasons.

WIND

The wind is the movement of air from areas of hot air and high pressure to areas of cold air and low pressure.

Different types of wind:

- A brezze is a light wind. It moves the leaves of trees.

- A gale is a strong wind that can break branches.

- A hurricane is a very strong wind that can blow down trees and roofs.

PRECIPITATION

Precipitation is the water that falls from clouds onto the Earth.

It can fall in the form of rain, snow and hail.

INSTRUMENTS USED TO MEASURE WEATHER

Thermometer Termómetro mide la temperatura.

weathervane Veleta mide la dirección del viento.

anemometer Anemómetro mide la velocidad del viento. 

rain gauge Pluviómetro mide la cantidad de lluvia.

Artificial satellites Satélites artificiales Recoge información sobre las condiciones climatológicas.
